How it works
Why photos leak location
Phones and cameras write EXIF metadata into the file, and by default that includes GPS coordinates. Share the original and you may be handing over where you live, work, or took the shot.
How the stripping works
The cleaned copy is re-encoded from the pixels alone, which drops every metadata block, EXIF included. You keep the image, you lose the hidden data.
FAQ
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is read and cleaned entirely in your browser using the canvas, nothing is sent to any server.
Does removing EXIF change the picture?
Not visibly. Re-encoding at high quality keeps the image while dropping the metadata. Orientation is baked in so it still displays the right way up.
